Writing Our Lives II
a deepening practice
“And by the way, everything in life is writable about if you have the outgoing guts to do it, and the imagination to improvise.”
~ Sylvia Plath
This spring, Dialect welcomes poet, editor and celebrated creative writing tutor Kate Potts back for Writing Our Lives II - -a five‑session, in‑person course for writers ready to deepen their life‑writing practice.
Across five fortnightly Friday mornings at The Exchange, Stroud (GL5 1DF), Kate will guide participants through the craft of memoir, autobiography, autofiction and hybrid forms. Each session focuses on a key aspect of life writing - vulnerability, place, character, pacing, and navigating uncertainty - supported by readings from writers such as Melissa Febos, Bernadine Evaristo, Chris Kraus, Robert Macfarlane, Nina Mingya Powles and more.
Expect a blend of discussion, short prompts, take‑home exercises and thoughtful feedback in a supportive group space. The course is ideal for writers with some experience who want to explore new possibilities or build on work already underway. You don’t need to have taken the autumn term to join.
