“To see the Summer Sky Is Poetry, though never in a Book it lie – True Poems flee” – Emily Dickinson
Almost midsummer already - where is the time flying? This week we’ve been looking ahead to the autumn and have a wonderful new workshop series planned with the award winning poet Kate Potts. Starting on 18th September, Wise Women Poetry Workshop is a 10 week in-person poetry course to read, discuss and draw inspiration from a range of exciting work from British and Irish contemporary women poets. You’ll be given ideas and prompts to spark new poems, and constructive feedback on your own work in a nurturing group space. Mindful of the excruciating cost of living for all of us right now, we’ve added a deposit option to spread the cost of the course. Find out more and book here.
With the summer solstice just around the corner, we thought we'd offer our subscribers a discount on the next in-person writing workshop, taking place in Sladebank Woods near Stroud on Sunday 23rd June, 10.30am - 1.30pm. Human=Nature explores the entanglements of the wood wide web linking humans with the more-than-human trees, plants, fungi, animal and bird life, seen and unseen, asking what stories of kinship and care we can create to nurture a kinder, more compassionate future.
Join JLM Morton for this delightful and immersive morning connecting with the land. We will walk through the woods and gather ideas from whatever we encounter (this won't be physically arduous, but be sure to wear suitable footwear). Whether you're a beginning writer or have more experience, everyone is welcome and we hope you will come away refreshed and inspired to write new words from the woods.
We have just a few places left and would like to offer these at the discounted rate - simply use the code HNJUNE at the checkout and we'll see you there!
