DIALECT DINNERS ARE SERVING UP!
This Tuesday! A chance to grab a seat at our very FIRST online dinner event, with none other than acclaimed travel writer, author and Co-Director of the Dark Mountain Project, Nick Hunt.
Nick is the author of three travel books about walking in different parts of Europe – Outlandish, Where the Wild Winds Are and Walking the Woods and the Water – as well as a work of ‘gonzo ornithology’, The Parakeeting of London, exploring the facts and urban legends surrounding London’s newest, brightest incomers. Nick’s short fiction collection, Loss Soup and Other Stories, is a journey through the Anthropocene, climate chaos and the Sixth Extinction to whatever strange worlds might lie beyond. Red Smoking Mirror is Nick’s debut novel, offering an alternate history set in a Moorish version of 16th-century Mexico.
His articles have been widely published, and his books have twice been finalists for the Stanford Dolman Travel Book of the Year.
Nick’s novel was shortlisted for the Viking Award for Fiction with a Sense of Place, and his work included in The Best British Travel Writing of the 21st Century. Nick is a contributor to BBC Radio 4’s ‘From Our Own Correspondent’, and a recipient of the Royal Geographical Society Journey of a Lifetime Award – producing this BBC Radio 4 programme about South Asian migrant workers in the UAE. As well as writing, Nick is an editor, a Dialect mentor, a tutor and a storyteller. He is also co-director of the Dark Mountain Project, a ‘new cultural movement for an age of global disruption’. (Issue 25 out now)
What a dinner guest! Nick will be setting the menu for the hour, discussing some of his favourite food while sharing his writing journey and creative life. We can’t wait to pull up a chair and break (virtual) bread with such an interesting guest!

POETRY WALKS FOR THE JOYFUL WANDERER
Many thanks to those who joined us on Philip Rush’s brilliant poetry walk this week, guiding us between the ancient Cotswold churches of Daglingworth and Duntisbourne Rous, following the course of the tiny River Dunt with poems read aloud (among the bluebells!) along the way.
The next (and last) one is May 1st, starting at 11am from Rodmarton. It’s guaranteed to be a really special experience, and what better way to mark the springiest of Spring days.
