Bat Walk & Words
a night of listening this Thursday
Did you know that there are 17 bat species in the UK, and eight species so far were observed commuting and foraging in the arboretum at the Museum in the Park in Stroud, Gloucestershire?

Join us for an evening walk this Thursday and find out more about our incredible bats. Led by ecologist Ivi Szaboova, the walk explores the hidden lives of the UK’s bat species - participants will use bat detectors to trace the flight paths of pipistrelles, Daubenton’s, horseshoes, and more, tuning into the frequencies of the night.
Interwoven with the science will be readings of poetry and prose inspired by bats, creatures of myth, echolocation, and nocturnal kinship
You may need warm clothing; you’ll definitely need suitable footwear and a torch is essential.
We love dogs but bats do not, so we are very sorry but no dogs, please.
NOTE: if it is raining on 18th September (bats don’t fly when it rains), we have a back up option of rescheduling this walk to the following Sunday, 21st September, 7pm - 9pm.
